Regional Sportshall championships at Guildford – 17th February 2007

Middlesex teams competed in the boys and girls under 13 Team Challenge and under 15 All Rounder competitions with Alex Rosen and Felice Mielle managing the teams.

There was close competition throughout in all 4 groups against teams from Kent, Surrey and Sussex that were largely club based whereas the Middlesex teams were drawn from schools.
It was a joy, as an enforced spectator, to watch and support an event with very intense individual and team commitment and demonstrating considerable athletic potential.

The Middlesex under 13 and under 15 girls teams both finished third, the under 13 boys were narrowly beaten into 2nd place and the under 15 boys won.
The under 15 boys now go to Birmingham on 22nd April for the national Finals.
Romaine Walcott will be there as the Boy All Rounder having finished one point ahead of Olu Oyewobi who finished 2nd. Tracey Annafi was third Girl All Rounder.

There were individual wins at under 13 boys for Thomas Habtom in the 6 lap race and Alie Sesay in the Standing Triple Jump, Marilyn Nwawulor in the under 15 Vertical Jump, Romaine Walcott in the 2 lap race and Olu Oyewobi in both the 4 lap race and Standing Triple Jump.

The team was supported by some parents and Peter Clark, Cecil Gittens and Cyril Wroth who officiated for the county.

Frances Ratchford, Chairman EA London, who also has Middlesex affiliation, also helped officiate and presented the awards.
