Middlesex T&F Championships 2025 – Report

This years Championships were blessed with almost perfect weather with Lee Valley’s infamous wind generally staying away to the relief of the sprinters. This year saw the continued rise in numbers with 571 entries and 840 performances up 40 from last year. However while entries remain high for the sprint and middle distances the technical events in many cases suffered form small fields. There were however 13 new championship best performances. County President Norm Grimsley presented the medals.

Seniors

Destiny Ogali (Harrow) completed a sprint double with both 100m and 200m titles, while last years Champion Pheonix Lyon (SBH) stepped up in distance to win the 400m. Robert Datnow (TVH) used a strong finish to secure the 800m title while William De Cothi (LH) won both the 1500m and 5000m. Multi-eventer Remy Weinbrect (Highgate) produced a 3.90m PB in the pole vault as well as winning the Javelin. Andre Pereira Cameiro (TVH) won Shot Put and Discus while multi-times Champion Kevin Acraman won the Hammer.

Darcey Kuypers took the 100m title while Akaysha Ellis (TVH) won the 200m and 400m. Her 200m time of 24.38s was a Championship Best. Simonetta Ifeji and Stacey Gonzalez (SBH) took 2 titles each in the field events.

U20’s

This group will be truncated next year due the age group changes but it went out with a bang. Bright Otiora (BFTA) won the 100m just 0.02s slower than the senior champion. Kaylan Taylor (BFTA) won the 200m in 21.31s. and David Isibor (VP&TH) the 400m in his first sub 50s performance. Trey Corlis (LH) completed a hurdle double unfortunately his 110mH time of 13.99s the 2nd fastest in the UK this year was wind assisted. Lewis Sorhaindo (TVH) won triple and long jump titles while Thomas Wassermann (LH) won hammer and Shot Putt. For the women Michelvi Wamba (VP&TH) took the 100m title with Makayla Braia Yoyte (Harrow) the 200m. Laureen Okoghenu (VP&TH) threw 41.67m in the Hammer while Charlotte Reynaert (TVH) won Javelin and long jump.

U17s

With GCSE’s starting the Monday after the Championships athletes were keen to give good performances. Paschal Jr Iwuji (E&H) took 100m gold on his home track his 10.80 was the 4th fastest UK time this year. Mikel Alexander (LH) took the 200m title. Arjuna Pflug {Highgate) with a great display of front running won the 3000m in a Championship Best of 8:57.79. Malakai David McKenzie Callum (LH) won both Hurdles races, with Milo Ryneheart (SBH) winninh Hammer and Shot. Nathan Griffiths threw 49.18m in the Javelin. The womens 100m champion was Tia Akinola . A fantastic 1500m race saw Posie Shaw (SBH) pip Sonny Allen (Highgate) and Jorjia March (Chelmsford) to the title in a championship best of 4:31.90. Sonny however set another Championship best on Sunday in the 3000m taking it out hard from the start. Multi-eventer Leila Newth (ESM) and U15G UK record holder won the 80mH and Triple Jump. Elkie Baker (LH) won the Discus with 38.51m the longest by an U17W over the weekend.

U15s

Segun Giwa took both 100m and 200m titles. Southern XC Champion Filip Kounoupas Prastalo (LH) won the 800m while clubmate Gabriel Edwards set a Championship best in the 80mH. Joshua Cain also set a Championship best in the 3000m. Charlie Nicolson (LH) won the 1500m leading from the start although the field closed the gap over the last 150m. Daniel Markham-Lee (Harrow) jumped 5.95m. In the girls Anu Jaiyeola (SBH) won a sprint double. Arguable the most impressive performances of the weekend were Capree Cooper (Barnet) who won the 300m in 39.98 and 800m in a UK lead time of 2:10.23 the 2nd fastest AT by an U14.

U13s

It took 0.001ths to separate the 100m medallists with Elijah Williams (Hillingdon) the fastest. Harrison Henderson produced a commanding front running performance to set a new Championship best of 4:41.53 with a front running 1500m. Seth Saunders (SBH) also set a 75mH CBP. Sienna Joseph Edwards (Harrow) won both the girls 100m (a new CBP of 12.83s) and 200m while Sienna Darcey (SBH) won the 800m and 70mH.
