Senior British Inter-Counties Mountain Race – Sunday 7th May 2023 – Update
The Senior British Inter-Counties Mountain Race will be held on Sunday 7th May 2023 at Sedbergh in Cumbria. It will be held in conjunction with the GB & NI trial for the ‘Up-and Down’ race at the Senior World Mountain and Trail Championships, which are to be held in Innsbruck on 6-10 June 2023.
With a 1pm/1.15pm start for the Women/Men it should be just about possible to travel in the morning from London.
The course is 14km with 760m of climbing (8.7miles/2,493ft) so expect the winners to take approx. 60 minutes. Weather permitting you will experience some incredible scenery! The route is two laps on the Howgills, over Winder and Arant Haw. The race start and finish are above Lockbank Farm and access to the fell is along the public footpath by the farm. The course will be marked and marshalled.
As this is also an international trial race non county entries are limited and strict kit requirements will be enforced: all competitors must carry waterproof top (taped seams) and bottoms, hat and gloves. In bad weather a thermal top must also be carried or worn.
